HONOLULU — The Hawaii state Senate has confirmed the governor’s appointments for attorney general and public safety director.
State senators on Thursday voted to confirm Douglas Chin as attorney general and Nolan Espinda as director of the Department of Public Safety.
Judiciary and Labor Committee Chairman Sen. Gilbert Keith-Agaran says Chin brings extensive and meaningful legal experience in public and private practice. He was most recently managing partner at Carlsmith Ball law firm and spent 12 years with the Honolulu prosecuting attorney’s office.
Public Safety, Intergovernmental and Military Affairs Committee Chairman Sen. Will Espero says Espinda has a proven track record of accountability.
Espinda has been the warden at the Halawa Correctional Facility since 2009. He has worked for the department since 1983.
